Mountain Transit to Offer Free Fares on October 7

BIG BEAR VALLEY/RIM COMMUNITIES, CA - September 30, 2026 – Mountain Transit

will offer free fares on Wednesday, October 7, in recognition of California Clean Air Day,

with support from the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA).

While Mountain Transit’s local fixed-route services are already free, on California Clean

Air Day, Off-the-Mountain Routes 5 and 6 and Premium Service will also be free on that

day.

California Clean Air Day encourages Californians to take actions that help improve air

quality, including choosing public transportation. By offering free fares, Mountain Transit

is making it easier for residents and visitors to leave their cars behind and explore

transit options serving the mountain communities.

Mountain Transit provides Fixed Route, Off-the-Mountain (OTM), Dial-A-Ride and

Premium Service throughout the rural San Bernardino Mountain communities of Big

Bear Valley, and Rim communities including Crestline, Lake Arrowhead, and Running

Springs.
