October is National Cider Month, and we feel especially privileged to celebrate right here on the mountain, surrounded by orchards that have been here long before us, as well as those we have helped call Sycamore Ranch home. Whether you'd like to bring the family for apple picking, join us for a cider flight, purchase a bottle to enjoy at home, or volunteer and share a meal with us, we've got you covered. Pick. Press. Celebrate. Saturday, October 17, 9 am-5 pm. Bring the whole family to our You Pick, You Press event and spend a fall day in the orchard. You can buy apples grown right here on the property, pick your own fruit, and press it yourself using a hand press with a little Sycamore Ranch history behind it. It’s the very same press Richard first used when he was experimenting with cider as a hobby, long before Sycamore Ranch was making the ciders you know today. Want to be part of making the cider you’ll eventually find in our tasting room?
We’re looking for volunteers to help us pick apples for this year’s Sycamore Ranch ciders. This is an adults-only event from 8 AM–12 PM, and afterward, we’ll fire up the BBQ and serve complimentary lunch and hard cider to everyone who helped.
Wine Maker Tour:
This intimate experience goes beyond a traditional tasting, giving guests an insider's look at our winery and the stories behind each bottle.
You'll Enjoy:
-At Big Moon orchard, a guided walk through the trees, to discover our heirloom apples that play such a big role in our Hard Ciders.
-A tour of our new winery building at Big Moon orchard with a special barrel tasting of a few select wines.
-At the tasting room and home property, a guided tour of our estate gardens (featured in Sunset Magazine) and our Syrah and Zinfandel vineyards.
-A special tasting hosted by the winemaker of our current release wines and/or ciders.
-Time with our winemaker to learn about the vineyard, the winemaking process, and what makes each vintage unique.
