Camp Mozumdar Walking Tour

Saturday, May 16, 2020 (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

The Camp Mozumdar Walking Tour will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. The Rim of the World Historical Society, a volunteer organization dedicated to "preserving and sharing our mountain history", is providing an opportunity for you to explore the nature, history and beauty of Camp Mozumdar, one of the hidden gems of the San Bernardino Mountains. Camp Mozumdar, which in the beginning was known as Mozumdar Temple, was conceived and constructed in the 1920s by Indian Print A.K. Mozumdar. Because the camp is on private lands, it has been closed to the public for decades.

The walking tour will begin at the Pillars of God and end at the Temple where lunch will be served. There is no charge, however, the number of people for this tour is limited to 40. Free tickets will be on the website mountainhistorymuseum.org in mid-April. Parking is limited, so carpooling is advised. Volunteers will help direct parking. To get there, drive to the end of Mozumdar Road in Cedarpines Park and take the left driveway to Mozumdar, follow signs to the Pillar of Christ Ampitheater and park there in the dirt lot. Walk up to the ampitheater to begin the tour. For further information, contact Bill Pumford, (909) 338-3544.
